About BIG GUNS BBQ
The BIG GUNS BBQ experience is a unique experience. We are located in a truly unique location with a friendly comfortable atmosphere featuring awesome BBQ and some of the finest Blues, Classic Rock, and country acts the area has to offer. Easily accessible from Tallahassee, Thomasville, and Cairo, in a rural town called Beachton, only 3 miles north of the Fl/ Ga line, your experience begins when you travel down Hwy 319, either heading North crossing the Fl. Line, or coming South from Thomasville, and see the yellow and red sign by the road with the large yellow rustic building and the highly visible sign that says BIG GUNS BBQ. We are hard to miss seeing and have ample parking for most any size crowd.
Even though we are a relatively new Restaurant and Lounge to the area, our facility has 22 years of BBQ history, formerly JB’s BAR B QUE and owned by the infamous JB, one of the most well known restaurateurs in the Tallahassee / South Georgia area. Having catered to many Government Officials in both Tallahassee and Thomasville, the JB’s Bar B Que reputation is widespread, often having catering picked up by private helicopters. Jimmy Buffet frequented JB’s and had many big parties catered here. Numerous other known celebrities have dined here in the past, as they visited the area or gigged in Tallahassee.
The Calderon Family, Kristy, and Judy, having a restaurant background combined of over 25 years, decided to carry on the JB’s tradition and conceived the BIG GUNS BBQ concept. Creating a new hub in the area for “Smokin’ BBQ & Blues”, they have promoted local and international acts to become a musical center for musicians and bands to display their talents and entertain our customers. Even though we are a new venue for such entertainment, we have had such well known bands as Randall “Big Daddy Blues” Webster & Red Hot Java, The Pure Platinum Band w/ Lisa Watson, the Corporal Boil Band, Jimbo Smith, The Wailin Wolves Band with Morgan Smith, The Harbor Blue Band, The Swingin’ Harpoon Blues Band, The No Permit Band and numerous other well known bands and musicians.
